Advisory Board Vacancies and Application Process
When there is an opening on the First 5 Santa Barbara County Children and Families Advisory Board it will be posted on this website. In order to become an Advisory Board member you must complete an application. Applications are available in English and Spanish. A review committee reviews applications and then makes recommendations to the full commission for approval.

Time Commitment
The term of Advisory Board membership is for two years. There is no limit to the number of terms an individual can serve on the Advisory Board, as long as that member actively participates in Advisory Board activities. The Advisory Board meets at least four (4) times per calendar year in mid-County locations. Advisory Board members also serve on First 5 committees related to strategic planning, community outreach and education and funding. Advisory Board members are reimbursed for expenses related to their participation including transportation, meals and child care. Translation can be provided if needed as well.
Experience Required
We seek Advisory Board members who have knowledge and/or an interest in issues affecting young children and families. Parents and other individuals with diverse backgrounds and experiences, and who have a commitment to helping young children, are encouraged to apply.
