National Child Abuse Prevention Month is a time to raise awareness about the importance of providing safe, stable and loving environments for growing children. During the month of April, the Child Abuse Prevention Council of Santa Barbara County is hosting four FREE screenings of the documentary film RESILIENCE to share cutting-edge research about the impacts of abuse, neglect and other adverse childhood experiences. (See event details in the attached flyer) This documentary supports the hopeful message that a “Community in Unity” can make a real difference for children and families in our county. Each screening will be followed by a community dialogue, with multidisciplinary panels of local professionals leading the conversation in Santa Ynez, Santa Barbara and Lompoc. Santa Maria will host a facilitated Community Café, where everyone will have the opportunity to join a small group discussion about key messages and action steps.
